Frequently Asked Questions

No. If you have a 4G+ enabled SIM card then you will get 4G+ as standard whatever plan you are on at the standard data rates (or allowances) for that plan.

Your phone will pick up Gibtelecom’s 4G+ network if it operates on Band 7 (2600Mhz) or Band 20 (800Mhz). If you are not sure if your phone is 4G+ ready then simply enter your mobile number on our website and we’ll check it for you.

If you are using your data for email and occasional browsing then 500MB is enough. However, if you also want to keep up with social media then 2GB is ideal for you. If you want to watch videos, use maps and download content, we recommend our 5GB plan. Remember, if your needs change you can always request to switch to a different plan or go back to your previous one at any time.

Our bolt-ons are designed for midi and maxi customers on inclusive plans. If your data runs out you can simply buy a one-off bolt-on to get you through to the end of the month. Our data bundles are designed for mini, Select and reload customers who want to add data to their plan on a regular basis.

When you get close to exceeding your data allowance, we will let you know by text. If you do go over any of your allowances our standard out of bundle voice, data and SMS rates apply. If you regularly exceed your data limit you can move up to another tariff at any time. You can also move back down again if your needs change.

You can check your data usage via the data-monitoring tool in your device settings. Depending on which device you have you may need to reset the counters each month or set the correct monitoring cycle. Alternatively you can text DATACHECK to 8100 to find out how much local data you’ve used in the current month.

Additional charges on midi and maxi plans would be for use outside your tariff, for example, if you exceed your allowance, use your phone abroad, or use premium services. Other charges include directory enquiries, or sending picture messages via MMS. For mini plans you pay for what you use each month at the rates below.

Yes. We have exclusive handset deals on our new plans.

They are available on all midi and maxi plans and on any mini plan that has contracted a monthly data bundle.

If you choose to terminate the contract before the end of the contract term you will be required to pay the outstanding balance of the sale price for your handset at the full retail price.

Yes. 4G+ is available as standard on all Gibtelecom pay as you go and pay monthly mobile plans. Advertised bundles are available for reload customers as well as for the new plans.

Go Double is our great rewards scheme that offers double your mobile data allowance and double your home broadband speed for free if you have eligible mobile and internet services with Gibtelecom.

In order to sign up to Go Double you need to have a midi or maxi mobile plan and SuperSwift fibre broadband on the same Gibtelecom residential account.

If you have more than one eligible mobile plan, such as two midi plans, you will get double the data allowance on all eligible plans.

If you change your mobile or broadband plan to an eligible plan then you will get double the data or speed on the new plan. However if you downgrade your service or disconnect internet or mobile services with us, meaning that you no longer meet the criteria, then any remaining plans will revert to the standard speeds and allowances.
