Europa FC won the Gibtelecom Rock Cup, with a 3-0 victory against rivals Lincoln Red Imps at the final held on 28 May 2017 at the Victoria Stadium.
Having won a historic local treble (also winning the first division league and Pepe Reyes Cup), Europa FC will go on to represent Gibraltar in the UEFA Champions League. Runners up Lincoln Red Imps will participate in the UEFA Europa League.
The trophy and medals were presented by Gibtelecom's Customer Operations Director, Peter Borge, and GFA Honorary President, Michael Llamas.
Gibtelecom signed a four year deal as main sponsors of the Gibtelecom Rock Cup, the Gibraltar Football Association's (GFA) Challenge Cup, in December 2016 following a partnership arrangement between the GFA and Gibtelecom. For many years this tournament has been known as the Rock Cup, which is a knockout competition between all the Gibraltar Football Clubs and modelled on the UK’s FA Cup. The four year deal started with the 2016/17 season.
As well as having a packed Victoria Stadium for the epic final, Gibtelecom streamed the match live on its Facebook page with the stream gathering circa 8,000 views from as far afield as Canada, South America, Portugal and the United Kingdom - acheiving a social media reach of almost 100,000 people.
