A common reason is attributed to Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) security settings set to too high. The default setting for UPnP is for the service to be enabled and extended security to be disabled.
If you have set the UPnP settings to enable extended security, this will not allow the PS to connect to the PlayStation network, showing a network fault. Disabling the extended security parameter and applying this to the Gateway should resolve this issue.
