An exciting opportunity has arisen in Gibtelecom for a Development & Integration Analyst. Working as part of our dedicated and professional technical team, the successful applicant will be working in a varied environment of in-house application development, support and problem analysis/solution implementations.

Responsibilities

• To be a software engineer, in relation to a specific remit of technology, infrastructure, software or services.
• To be a subject matter expert, in relation to a specific remit of technology, infrastructure, software or services:
  • To operationally maintain and continuously improve the functions within technical remit.
  • Dimension in line with business requirements, including growth and sparing.
  • Apply best practices as defined by standardisation committees, industry bodies and vendors.
  • Track vendors’ technology evolutions and lifecycle.
  • To participate in the planning, development, design, engineering, architecture, integration, testing,acceptance, optimisation, and implementation activities within technical remit.
  • To be responsible for the quality and performance of all functions within technical remit.
  • To coordinate and assure security aspects of all functions within technical remit.
  • To make good customer-initiated complaints and defects within committed service levels.
  • To participate in the delivery of projects within specific remit.
  • To be responsible for drafting, collating, and maintaining a repository of documentation in relation to specific remit.
•  To be a generalist, across all areas of technology, infrastructure, software or services within the technical function:
  • To carry out functions, competently and diligently.
  • To contribute to the drafting, collating, and maintaining of a repository of documentation in relation to specific remit.
• To execute multi-year roadmaps that align to the technical strategy and business objectives.
• To develop within the specific area of technology, infrastructure, software or services, as determined by the Company.
  • To keep oneself abreast of developments within the industry. Including, participating in standardisation committees, vendor, and industry forums.
  • To develop and maintain one’s knowledge and skills, in respect to the technical function.

• To support operational counterparts in relation to the specific remit of technology and/or infrastructure.
• To support sales and marketing counterparts in relation to the specific remit of technology and/or infrastructure:
  • To assist with a pre-sales function, if required.
  • To assist with the productisation of any new service linked to the technical function.
• To engage with vendors in respect of the technical function:
  • Contribute to Complex sales when procuring large contracts.
  • Contribute to negotiations with vendors and strive to maximise value for money.
• To be available to assist in any projects and/or duties that the Company may deem reasonable.
• To form part of on-call roster, if operationally mandated.

Scope and Remit

• The software engineering and related functions underpinning the development and integration requirements of the business with focus on telecommunications. The scope of functions within remit are defined hereunder, but NOT in any way limited to:
  • Execution of the end-to-end software development lifecycle (AGILE and Waterfall), including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software systems.
  • Implementation of software development and integration best practices, processes, and methodologies, to ensure consistency and compliance based on ISO27001 standards across all projects.
  • Drafting and maintaining technical documentation, including system design specifications, user manuals, and testing plans.
  • Conducting peer reviews and providing technical guidance.
  • Developing software systems, applications, scripts and tools, using relevant programming languages and technologies.
  • Ensuring that systems are secure, scalable and performant, and that they comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Support the Operational Business Intelligence sections in the department by providing the relevant technical assistance.
  • Support existing software platforms running on a multitude of different programming languages and stacks (Python, Bash, Django, Celery, Flask, HTML, Java Script, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL).
• The execution of development operations and related functions, in support of the development and integration requirements of the business. The scope of functions within remit are defined hereunder, but NOT in any way limited to:
  • Managing core operating system functions, including file handling, system administration, text processing, and process management, to ensure a stable and efficient environment.
  • Overseeing development operations, including version control, configuration management, and deployment automation, to streamline software delivery.
  • Establishing and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for efficient software releases.
  • Monitoring system performance and resource utilization, implementing performance optimization strategies, and addressing bottlenecks.
  • Conducting code analysis, change management, and threat investigation to enhance system security.
  • Performing vulnerability assessments and proactively identifying and mitigating security risks.
  • Investigating and resolving incidents related to code and system security.
