IT Operations & Cloud Engineer

Role & Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the performance, availability and security of cloud-based applications and services.
- Develop and maintain automation scrips and tools to streamline deployment and management of IT infrastructure across a variety of virtualisation and cloud platforms.
- Engineer and administer IT infrastructure platforms.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies.
- Provide IT infrastructure technical support and assistance to internal teams.
Key Technical Skills/Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with Linux server environments.
- Experience with automation, application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
- Creating and maintaining “Infrastructure As Code” using tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt or Terraform.
- Experience with log aggregation tools such as ELK, Graylog or Splunk.
- Strong understanding of virtualisation & cloud computing concepts, including virtualization, networking, security, and storage.
- Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with a programming/scripting language such as Python or PowerShell.
Key Non-Technical Skills/Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Ability to complete complex tasks methodically, with an eye for detail.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about IT.
- Excellent organisation, task prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to operate independently in a remote role.
Desirable
- Experience with VMWare ESXi & vCenter environments.
- Experience with OpenStack or public cloud technologies.
- Experience with RedHat or binary compatible OS environments.
- Experience with Atlassian JIRA, Bamboo and Confluence.
Working Conditions
- Participate in an on-call roster.
- Occasional travel to company locations if/when required.
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours when required to support critical systems & infrastructure.
