Good governance is of upmost importance and we strive to maintain good business practices in everything we do. That means maintaining high standards of ethics and ensuring privacy and data security, and being respectful to our stakeholders. We are also implementing sustainability strategies where possible, with environmental targets set each year.
Gibtelecom’s “Green Journey” has continued to reduce the Company’s carbon footprint in 2018. We have encouraged customers to opt for online bills to save paper, we have changed to recycled paper for our Freepost envelopes. In house, we have recycling bins in all our offices.
We continue to support the GFSB Business Innovation Awards. This competition is aimed at local businesses to highlight entrepreneurship and innovation.
Gibtelecom supports the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation Data Forum 2018 held at The Gibraltar University. The event with opened by Sir Joe Bossano and Master of Ceremonies was our own Lianne Azzopardi.
Gibtelecom sponsored Westside School girls at the CyberCenturiun finals in London.
For the third successive year Gibtelecom sponsored the Gibraltar Field Gun competition. The 18-person teams undergo a gruelling training regime. The final takes place at HMS Collingwood, Portsmouth in June.
The 2017/18 Gibtelecom Rock Cup final between Europa FC and Mons Calpe SC will take place on Sunday 27 May at the Victoria Stadium. This is the second year of Gibtelecom’s title sponsorship of the Rock Cup which forms part of a four-year deal that commenced in the 2016/17 season.
Showing its continuing commitment to the Gibraltar community, Gibtelecom is supporting local charity the “Breast Cancer Support Gibraltar”. The Company has assisted in setting up a special number telephone line allowing callers to make donations of £1 per call towards the charity.
In October, Gibtelecom supported the Walk for Life event and helped to raise over £10,000.
Once again, Gibtelecom is sponsoring The Gibraltar Festival of Lights, held in John Mackintosh Square and culminating in the switching on of the Christmas lights in Main Street.
